random discussion with no bearing on socionics :)

nobody wants to discuss me... lol

I hope you can make it to SLC! :) (Admin 16:06, 20 June 2007 (CDT))

I've got a fun and interesting non-NT project for you: see this. (Admin 17:05, 20 June 2007 (CDT))

this looks fun. Thanks for catering to the SF's in the world :) I'll try to add and improve upon it when I'm more awake and motivated Bionicgoat 04:16, 21 June 2007 (CDT)~

I spent some time traveling through the Southwest in 1993 with my Orange County ENFj lady friend. We entered Arizona via the I15 and Barstow, camped near Grand Canyon and at Lake Powell, so we drove via Flagstaff rather than Phoenix. Not sure how it is to live there, but I loved driving through it. I keep wanting to go back.

Just a random post, heh. Expat 07:05, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

the Grand Canyon is great stuff (for a hole in the ground and all ;) ) I highly recommend it to anyone. Amazing scenary. They just added some crazy glass bottomed overlook thing to it that shoots out like 100 ft over the canyon, looks pretty scary to me. Flagstaff is way nice too, but we (my friends and I) tend to call it "granola town" because of the overwhelming amount of hippies and wanna-be-college-hippies. If you like sandwiches without an inch layer of sprouts on them, stay away from Flagstaff :) Damn Expat, you've been just about everywhere :)Bionicgoat 08:53, 21 June 2007 (CDT)
Not everywhere, not even in the US or Europe -- but I've been around a bit.Expat 08:18, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

Translating pages of from the Russian version of Wikisocion

insert the following before the URL, then browse freely:

http://www.translate.ru/url/tran_url.asp?lang=ru&direction=re&template=General&transliterate=on&autotranslate=on&url=

Maybe you can find a place to stick this useful information so that others can use it. It might be a more versatile translator than Babelfish, which can't get a lot of pages. --Admin 03:35, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

hmmm I don't know if it's my browser or what but all I get are a bunch of error codes when I try to use it on the russian wiki. I tried it on some Socionics Institute articles and it goes batshit crazy on the encoding for some reason. I assume you're not having these problems?
I wish there weren't legal issues involved with the translator program I use, it's honestly the best I've ever come across. damn piracy laws :( Allthough the new version let's me export my user dictionaries, it's just that none of the free online translators let you import them (so far as I've seen) Bionicgoat 03:56, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Let's try this one:

http://www.online-translator.com/url/tran_url.asp?lang=en&url=

--Admin 04:13, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

ok... I got the first one to work (with transliteration) I'm not sure what I was doing wrong before. It's still pretty rough to read though. about on par with babelfish IMO. although it is nice in that it gives you alternate translations for words in ((())). I'm not sure how this can be integrated into the english wiki though besides suggesting it as another machine translator :? The quality produced just isn't all that spectacular IMO (like all the other freebie translators) I hope you guys get paid good money for translation/interpreter work because it seems your jobs are pretty safe for now :)

actually I do like this one better than babelfish. The alternate suggested translations seem pretty good. I wonder if it has a word limit for the freebies. Still does about the same job as babelfish though as far as NFWs. It would be nice of these translation people could hook up with a better dictionary service or whatever. Bionicgoat 04:34, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
I like Google translate. Just looking at the main page, it seems a lot better than the other one. It looks better aesthetically, to boot. (see [1]) Thehotelambush 15:14, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
yeah that does look nice. Maybe on the pages that are more informative or have different take we can start including links like that to the Russian versions? So far from the little bit I've looked it seems like we're already beating them in content though. Bionicgoat 00:03, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, that's cool. Maybe it can go on the "Help" page and on the "Resources" page? I'll stick it there... The Russian section is just barely getting started, and 95% of the content is from me. I am promoting it very sparingly and selectively for now for a number of reasons. --Admin 02:13, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Rick and Expat have a conversation on my talk page

Rick, I saw that you have a page on Yulia Tymoshenko that's empty -- I know that you're the one who's in Ukraine but I do know a lot about her; I read a lot since she was the most obvious LIE woman around. I could write a text (which would be similar to Mandela's) and post it in English, unless you prefer to limit it to the benchmark celebrities? Expat 04:38, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Sure, that'd be great. If you post some arguments there in English, I'll then create a page for the English wiki and move it all over here, too, and translate your arguments into Russian over there. --Admin 04:53, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
what are you guys talking about this shit in my house for? :P Bionicgoat 04:58, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Create the page, and I'll complete it. Sorry BG. Expat 05:00, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
nah, no problem... I'm just busting your chops :P Bionicgoat 05:01, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Images and Socionics

I think that my contributions may be a bit reduntant or too "arcane" -- I'm pleased with the Afrikaans Language Monument since I think it's a good example of Ni, but I fear that the Palance of Westminster bit might be a bit too obvious; also I wonder if the bits on the statues of emperors makes sense, or is not too obvious, to people who don't know the historical background. So I'd appreciate your views :) Expat 04:24, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

eeeks I've been trying to go under the radar with my lack of contribution to that section *blush*. I'll look it over and let you know what I think :) It might just be my uneducated nature but I got the impression you guys were going a bit too highbrow with these things from what I've seen on the recent edits page. Bionicgoat 04:38, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
OK I made a few comments about the statues on the talk page for that section. Let me think about the other stuff. It's sort of hard for me to take in the Te/Ti examples. It seems stale, but I suppose that's just a reflection of my IM preferences and stuff :) Bionicgoat 05:04, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

</maniacal laughter>

You have been haxored. Sort of. Not really. Have a nice day. Niffweed17 21:09, 15 July 2007 (BST)

Socionics for Dummies

I think it's a brilliant idea -- I could write it, but it might come out as still too wordy. Expat 09:23, 21 July 2007 (BST)

well I think it would definately need to be collaborative. I was hoping/counting on input from you, Rick, and others who have a firmer/deeper understanding than I to let me know when I'm totally off or dead wrong with what I'm writting. Bionicgoat 13:24, 22 July 2007 (BST)
Don't worry. As soon as you make a false step, we'll plaster {{inaccuracies}} all over it. J/K --Admin 13:49, 22 July 2007 (BST)
hehe I'm just asking for people to keep the target audience in mind and give some leeway on things. Try to resist your pendantic natures for the sake of the children :P Bionicgoat 15:27, 22 July 2007 (BST)

terms of surrender

the surrendering party will agree to the following terms:

  1. the chickens must be slaughtered immediately.
  2. the surrendering party will agree to acknowledge the incredible importance of the real numbers 4.319, 17, and the complex number √(7)/26+(4/41934293)i
  3. the surrender is otherwise unconditional and the surrendering party agrees to be my eternal slave
